About Copper Collection

Copper, made to be used

Everything here is solid copper with nothing coating the surface that touches water or skin: no lining, no plating, no lacquer. The vessels are for plain water at room temperature, hand washed and dried after use. Copper darkens with use; that is patina, and half a lemon with a pinch of salt brings it back. The copper-care page has the whole routine.

Which vessel?

The 10 L water dispenser (2.6 US gallons, about forty 8 oz glasses) is filled at night and poured through the day from a copper spigot. For the kitchen counter or the table.

The 1 L bottle (33.8 fl oz) is the same practice for one person, with a threaded, leak-resistant copper cap, in hand-engraved Mina work or smooth copper.

The 8 oz cup (237 ml) pours from the dispenser or the bottle and sits on a desk or bedside table.

The pet water bowl comes in 700 ml for cats and dogs under 25 lb and 1 L for dogs of 25 to 45 lb, with a weighted anti-skid base and a hand-fired enamel band on the outside. Water only, and not for every pet: the bowl page lists which animals should drink from something else.

The tongue scraper is one piece of copper with a curved edge and two loop handles, used across the tongue in the morning before brushing. It is also in the Oral Care Trio with the Evermint toothpaste and the mint oil-pulling rinse.

Five cuff bracelets

Open cuffs in solid, uncoated copper that bend gently to fit: Single Stripe, Black Segment, Geometric Inlay, Basketweave and Wide Black Segment. The Single Stripe, Black Segment and Geometric Inlay cuffs have magnets set into the inner surface, so anyone with a pacemaker or another implanted device should not wear them. Worn daily, copper meets skin and can leave a green tint on the wrist; it rinses off with water, and a dry cloth after wearing slows it down.

Can I put anything other than water in a copper vessel?

No. Juice, lemon water, hot drinks, milk, tea, coffee and alcohol belong in other cups. Plain water, ideally filled at night and poured in the morning.

How do I clean copper?

Warm water and a soft cloth after each use, dried completely; lemon and salt once a month; never the dishwasher, steel wool, bleach or abrasive powder.

Is it solid copper?

Yes, every piece, with no plating. The engraved pieces are inked by hand in the recesses of the pattern, and the enamel band on the pet bowl sits on the outside of the bowl, away from the water.

Which piece for a gift?

The cup or the bottle for one person, the dispenser for a household, the pet bowl for the dog or cat in the family.
